Transformer Oil Treatment

DC-26.4D Transformer Oil Degassing Machine

The DC-26.4D machine is designed for multiple applications involving insulating and cooling oils used in high-voltage electrical equipment such as transformers, on-load tap changers (OLTC), transformer bushings, and high-voltage switches.

The unit performs essential functions, including: heating, pumping, and purification of electrical insulating oils (this process removes solid particulates, dissolved gases, and moisture from the oil) and evacuation of transformer tanks (the unit removes air and gases from transformer tanks during servicing or repair when gases may have entered the system).

Description

The DC-26.4D machine is designed for multiple applications involving insulating and cooling oils used in high-voltage electrical equipment such as transformers, on-load tap changers (OLTC), transformer bushings, and high-voltage switches. The unit performs essential functions, including:

  • Heating, pumping, and purification of electrical insulating oils
This process removes solid particulates, dissolved gases, and moisture from the oil.
  • Evacuation of transformer tanks
The unit removes air and gases from transformer tanks during servicing or repair when gases may have entered the system.

Machine Design

The DC-26.4D is built within a durable containerized enclosure, which houses all operational components, including:

  • A vacuum processing chamber for lowering internal pressure to facilitate degassing.
  • Vacuum generation components, including both booster and backing pumps.
  • High-efficiency oil pumps.
  • An integrated oil heating system.
  • A dual-stage filtration system for removing coarse and fine particulate contaminants.
  • A centralized control panel with indicators and operational controls.

Operating Modes

The DC-26.4D offers several operating modes to meet different servicing needs:

  1. Oil Transfer Mode
In this basic mode, the system functions as a transfer pump. Oil passes through the filtration system while being pumped from one vessel to another.
  2. Heating and Filtration Mode
In this mode, oil is first pumped through the heater to raise its temperature. Heated oil is then routed through the filtration stages to remove particulates. The processed, clean, and warm oil exits the unit ready for use.
  3. Degassing and Dehydration Mode
For more thorough processing, oil is first heated to 122–131°F (50–55°C) and filtered. The oil then enters the vacuum chamber where reduced pressure and elevated temperature work together to efficiently remove dissolved gases and moisture. The chamber contains specialized media designed to maximize the oil’s surface area, enhancing the extraction of water and gases under vacuum conditions.
  4. Vacuum Evacuation Mode
In this mode, the DC-26.4D is connected via hose to external equipment (such as transformers). The vacuum system then evacuates air from the connected equipment to achieve the desired vacuum level.
